Sandra's at it again with a 2nd Edition of Pat Buttram's Biography!
It’s Autry’s Sidekick! No! It’s Green Acres’ Mr.
Haney! Albany,
Georgia – BearManor Media is proud to announce the release of its 2nd
edition of Pat Buttram, Rocking-Chair Humorist.
This
updated story of humorist Pat Buttram’s life takes us from his very humble
beginnings to his radio days at WLS in Chicago, his years as Gene Autry’s
hapless sidekick, his role as Green Acres’ loveable con-man, and his
very recognizable voice-work in Disney animated films. We’re given a
behind-the-scenes tour on the Green Acres set by his daughter Kerri; and
we’re told by his other kin-folk what Buttram and his wife, actress Sheila
Ryan, were like when the cameras weren’t rolling. We learn about the
on-location accident that nearly cost him his life, the annual award he
established, the special talent most viewers didn’t know he had, and the
brotherly friendship that endured to the very end. Pat
Buttram’s original one-liners are scattered throughout the book. If they make
you laugh once again, they will have achieved their purpose. To

Pat
Buttram, the Rocking Chair Humorist August 18, 2006
"The astronauts left an eight million dollar car on the moon, and
brought home a bag of rocks. That's the same deal I got when I traded my car
in at Cal's used car dealer." Boalsburg, Pennsylvania – BearManor Media will soon be releasing the biography of one of America's most gifted funny men. The book, entitled Pat Buttram, the Rocking Chair Humorist, is scheduled for a September 30, 2006, release. Buttram is most well known for playing Gene Autry's yodel-y voiced sidekick in film, television, and radio and for his portrayal of Green Acres' hilarious con-man, Mr. Haney. "My purpose in writing this book is to show the world the Pat Buttram that his peers knew," says biographer Sandra Grabman. "Sure, his characters were hilarious, but did you know that Pat did much of his own writing? Not only that, but he often wrote material for other comedians, too." So brilliant was his wit that he was known as the best after-dinner speaker in Hollywood. People were absolutely charmed that such sophisticated observations were delivered in such a genuine Alabama country-boy manner. To make us laugh was Buttram's ultimate pleasure. Someone as beloved at Pat Buttram should have had an easy life, but it didn't work out that way. His first marriage caused him much pain and the loss of his child. Later, he was so severely injured when a prop exploded that, if it had not been for his pal Gene Autry, he would have died. Even so, Buttram's strength, bravery, and self control in real life could rival that seen in any John Wayne movie. ISBN: 1-59393-067-4
